코로나로 어디 놀러가기 어려운 아이들을 데리고 외할머니가 서현이 시현이 나무를 심어 두신 창녕 밭으로 놀러갔다. 손 많이 가지 않는 나무를 심는다고 거죽나무로 심으시면서도 서현이 시현이 나무는 특별하게 체리 나무로 심어주셨다. 언제 자라서 체리를 수확 할 수 있을까?

[외할머니 생가 방문]

창녕까지 온 김에 외할머니께서 어렸을 적 살던 시골 집에 들렀다가 집으로 가기로 했다. 사람이 살지 않은지 오래되어 관리되지 않은 티는 많이 났지만, 그래도 옛 정취가 느껴지는 자그마한 기왓집. 어렸을적 방학 마다 시골에 다녀왔다는 친구들 얘길 들으면 궁금하기도 하고, 부럽기도 했었는데. 시현이 서현이 외증조할머니께서 살아계셨다면 애들도 한번씩 찾아 갈 시골집이 생겼을텐데 하는 아쉬운 생각도 든다.

그런데 한편으로는 그 때 한우리 외할머니께서 돌아가시지 않았다면, 지금 우리가 이렇게 가정을 꾸리고 살지 않았을 수도 있다는 약간은 황당할 수 있는 생각도 든다. 당시 예상치 않게 길게 유학하게 되면서 몇 년 동안 한우리와 연락 않고 지내다가 SNS로 한우리 외할머니 돌아가신 소식을 우연히 듣게 되었다. 카카오톡으로 위로하는 메시지를 남겼는데 한우리가 목소리 듣고 싶다고 (왜그랬죠?) 그래서 오랜만에 통화하고, 그렇게 연락을 이어가다가 다음 해 여름 한국에 잠시 들어왔을 때 사귀기 시작했으니 나비 효과 같은건가? 상투적인 표현을 빌리자면, 외할머니께서 돌아가시면서 엮어 주고 가신걸까?^^
